Homeschooling Going Well

Well, we have been homeschooling for about a month now and all is well. The kids are doing great. My DS is learning to read and he is so very excited. My DD is reading all the time it seem, I look for her and find her nose in a book. Our schedule is good, of course it's nice to be able to change things up depending on how the kids are feeling that day. I am liking this.

Well, schools have started this last week and others will start this week. We have decided to homeschool this year. It is going to be an exciting journey. My DD is wanting to have a field trip for our first day of school, or second day or third day or....we are thinking maybe not the first week. I have been getting a lot of information from friends, websites and blogs. It is a little overwhelming but I know that God has a plan. I'll let you know how things are going.

Where has the summer gone? It seems like yesterday was the last day of school. I cannot believe how fast time goes by. Well, the folks over at 5 Minutes For Mom are gearing up. I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. We have had a wonderful time. It started last night by going Caroling, then a Candlelight Service, followed by Dinner with Friends and ended by celebrating Advent. My DD woke us up at 5AM, but we convinced her to lay down for a while longer. By 6AM she had my DS up so.......we all fell out of bed. By 8am we had all presents unwrapped, I was cooking breakfast while everyone was checking out there stuff. What a wonderful family I have. I am so blessed!!!! Thank you God!!!

Well here it is 3 days left to shop and I am not finished. To tell you the truth I only started last Wednesday and that is the only day I have been shopping. I am hoping that tomorrow will be a very productive day. We shall see.

Favorite recipe from Mom!

This weekend's theme at Today's Housewife is favorite recipes from Mom or another relative. I want to share with you my favorite recipe from mom. It's Chocolate Pie. She always made them at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now, I have the pleasure of making them. Here it is.

Chocolate Pie

3 Cups Sugar
3 Cups Milk
4 Egg Yellows
2/3 Cup Flour
2 Teaspoons Vanilla
10 Tablespoons Cocoa

Mix all dry ingredients. Add all other ingredients, mixing well. Cook in double boiler until thickened stirring continuously. Pour into already baked pie shells. Add meringue and brown. Makes 2 pies.

This week I saved $21.41 in coupons, used a $5.00 gift card I had forgotten about, and received $4.00 in ECB's.

My mailbox today had.........my free Kashi Oatmeal Dark Chocolate cookie, free cascade complete all in one samples with coupon and free Mr Clean magic eraser with coupon.

Then I found out that I won the Tons of Coupons from Proud Mommy's Daily Drama and Great Deals!

My Truck Broke

OK, so it's Friday afternoon at 4:30 and my truck has been acting up all day. I call Christian Brothers Automotive and ask if they can put my truck on the machine that tells what is wrong with it. He says sure how soon can you be here. I tell him I am on my way. I get there about 10 til 5 and they take a look. They figure out what is wrong and have already called to see if they can get the part for me. He says if they cannot they will tape up the problem so I can drive it until Monday since they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. He comes back in five minutes to say he can get the part if I want him too and fix it. I say great!!! He runs to get the part while they are taking the broke one off of my truck. He shows me the broke one, which they would not have been able to tape for me, while the other is being put on. He then asks my kids if they would like some ice cream. Of course they answer yes. He gets them ice cream, me a coke and then shows me on his computer that the part that broke was on the next scheduled maintenance check up. At 6:15, I am walking out the door, my truck fixed, and thanks to our Dave Ramsey emergency fund, paid for . These guys are the BEST!!!!!

Labor Day

Today, my daughter and I went to Six Flags. It was bring a friend for free day so we took my friend. It was a bad idea. I have never seen it so busy. They opened an extra entrance to the park. I didn't know they had an extra entrance. We only stayed 3 hours and only rode 4 rides. The lines were terrible. The highlight of the day was going to Chick-Fil-A with our football logo shirts to get our free chicken strips. I love free stuff!!

Yesterday I went to Wal-Mart and it was one of my first times using several coupons. I used 20 coupons and saved $16.18. I was very pleased. I used one coupon for a FREE 8.45oz bottle of Cascade Crystal Clear that I received in my mailbox. I love to get stuff for FREE!
